The drawings and objects of Andreja Kulunčić are a materialisation of the traces of the memory of the women’s prison camp on Goli Otok and Sveti Grgur. They were produced in response to the artist’s encounter with the site, with the material, with collaborative inputs to the project, and they tell more about the symptom of inhumanity, of the pathology of normality, than of an event from history. For her, Goli Otok is an emblem (or sign) of collective self-delusion that allows a human being to annihilate another human being.
